The brief was to update the existing Online Open Courses web site giving it a more contemporary look and feel and to improve accessibility.
There were tight budgetary constraints since Peoples-uni is a charity.
The customer wanted some design input into the final web site.
Moodle was to be retained as the existing Learning Management System (LMS).
The customer's IT and management teams are spread over three continents, so co-ordination and feedback might suffer from some lag time.
To reduce the cost of change and software redundancy in the near future, we upgraded Moodle to the most recent release.
A number of templates which were compatible with the recent Moodle were presented to the customer. Templates using the Bootstrap framework were short listed since the framework enables easier development for mobile-friendly responsive web sites. Finally the BCU template was chosen as the most closely aligned with the customer's design brief.
Images were chosen which were both royalty and attribution free, once again complying to budgetary constraints.
An iterative approach was taken to the design of the web site with both IT and administration providing input until project completion.
The Peoples-uni Open Online Courses web site went live in June 2015 and Iandra Consulting is pleased to provide ongoing support and maintenance.
